8 Principles of Pilates
Concentration. Concentration promotes the mind-body connection.
Centering. During your Pilates workout, you should consciously bring your focus to the center of your body.
Control. Pilates' method is based on mindfulness, including proper, safe and complete muscle control.
Precision.
Breathing. Proper breathing is incorporated in each movement. Although every exercise may have a specific inhale and exhale at a specific time, you must always breathe.
Alignment. Have proper body alignment, before you start each movement.
Flow. Each exercise has a flow and each exercise is meant to flow from one to another.
Integration. To incorporate strength, flexibility, breathing, balance, mindbody awareness.
